Foreword
It is with great pleasure that we present the 28th Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award. The award contributes an important element to our exhibition program biennially and its continuing success is due to the contributions of many individuals and organisations over the years.
We are also of course greatly indebted to all of the artists who have entered the award over the years and made it the diverse and rewarding experience that it is. Again this year we received over 230 entries from around the world and our Judge Dr Kevin Murray has had the unenviable task of short listing the entries to the stimulating selection you see here.
Our sincere thanks to Kevin for the high level of professionalism and enthusiastic commitment that he brings to the event.
This year sees the 30th year of the Award and we are encouraged by the continuing array of entries from many different countries. In 2012 we welcome works from Hungary, Israel, Italy, Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, which will be on display alongside selected works from Australia.
The award has been the driving force behind the development of what is one of regional Australia’s most significant collections of Ceramic Art.
We look forward to the continued development of the collection with this year’s winner and acquisitions.
I trust you will enjoy the 28th Gold Coast International Ceramic Art Award and look forward to its continued encouragement of the development of the ceramic medium.
